Bev enjoys working with in a variety of ways to help people – she loves her work and loves the people she works with. You will find her to be warm, receptive and very personable. Her first goal is to help inspire you to want to make the necessary changes and to help you realize that you are worth the effort. She will be with you every step of the way, teaching, listening, practicing and cheering. Therapy works!
I am very boundary and communication oriented in my approach because I understand that truly effective communication originates from the heart- empathy is the goal. Empathy is my favorite characteristic because it’s the primary expression of love and compassion. For many of us, empathy doesn’t come easily, but it can be learned. When it is learned, it can make all the difference in your life and sense of wellbeing.
My approach is eclectic and evidence based. I utilize selected aspects of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, 12-Step orientation, spiritual, meditation, mindfulness, selected reading and even movie therapy. I draw upon research and practical application as well as my own experience. My job is to help empower you and to navigate through your relationships. Together we create life changing experiences, a new respect for self and others.
I will work with you to help meet your needs- individually, with your family, blended family, or a significant other. I work well with any combination of family members, blended families, same sex unions and any religion or non-religious preference.
Many of my clients come to me suffering with addictions of all types. We can work one-on-one to overcome these addictions and co-occurring disorders. We can also work with any combination of your family members, as they are just as adversely affected by this oppressive disease. I enjoy helping you and your family to forgive and recover your lives while learning important healthy coping skills and other life lessons in the process.
I work with clients impacted by the following disorders: Asperger’s Disorder- which is currently listed in the DSM 5 as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder(ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder(ADD), Bipolar I and II, and other mood disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), Depression, Grief and Anxiety. I currently host a weekly group meeting focused on Anxiety issues.
Again, these disorders do affect the entire family and can be devastating to all those involved. I find working with the family unit or spouse/partner directly affected, helps with education and understanding. Often times the family has no idea how to process or deal with the emotions/behaviors of their loved one with special needs.
I enjoy working in a variety of ways to help meet you where you are. I love my work and I think you will find me to be very personable, warm, accepting and receptive to your needs. My first goal is to help inspire you to want to make the necessary changes and to help you realize that you are worth your every effort. I will be with you every step of the way teaching, listening and cheering. Yes – therapy works!
